Skydive Swansea - the only parachute centre in Wales

Landing

The biggest worry for most people who have never seen parachuting taking place is the landing, so we decided to take a series of photos to show what's involved.

The “under canopy” phase lasts for approximately 5 minutes. You have plenty of time to try out steering the parachute but your Tandem Instructor will take over full control for the last 1000 feet. At around 200 feet your instructor will ask you to raise your legs for landing which is usually about 15 seconds before touching down. This preparation will ensure that the instructor’s feet touch the ground first.

The safest way for the tandem passenger to land by far is with feet up and on the bottom. The landing position is rehearsed prior to jumping during the initial briefing. On landing a handshake with your instructor is mandatory - after that a visit to the local pub to congratulate yourself on achieving a truly amazing experience is a must!

“We are committed to providing a safe environment with highly qualified instructors with the aim of helping Welsh Charities raise funds through Tandem Skydiving as well as providing a centre of excellence for Welsh skydivers”

Don't forget your landing photos CD

What better way could there be to remember your skydive than to have a personal CD with the pictures of your landing?
