If you would like to jump for free our charity partners offer the perfect route. In return for raising a minimum of £300 in sponsorship, you will be able to make a tandem skydive at no cost to you other than the time you put in to obtaining the pledges and collecting the required charitable donations. Naturally the charities would like you to raise as much money as possible and many people raise considerably in excess of the minimum required.
Skydive Swansea is the only drop zone in Wales, offering members of the public the opportunity to make a tandem parachute jump from 10,000 ft for charity.
So What Exactly Is Involved?
This exciting challenge will involve 30 minutes of ground training followed by a tandem parachute jump attached to a qualified tandem instructor. At an altitude of up to 10,000 ft you will exit the aircraft and experience a thrilling 30-seconds of freefall followed by an exhilarating canopy ride after which you can fly the parachute yourself (under the guidance of your tandem instructor).
Explain The Sponsorship Side Again?
To undertake a tandem skydive in aid of your chosen charity, you will need to raise a minimum of £300. £200 of this is payable to Skydive Swansea (£30 as a non returnable deposit and £170 on the day). At least another £100 sponsorship (also payable on the day) from your tandem jump will go to your chosen charity's fund raising collection. Anything over the £300 total that you raise will go to your charity and there are some charities have gifts on offer as incentives for those raising certain sums of money.
What About Dates And Deposits?
Sign up as a group or an individual for any weekend convenient to you although as the year progresses bookings are coming in all the time and you should book early to secure your chosen date. You will need to pay a booking deposit of £30 per person with the balance of £270 minimum per person on the day of your jump.
Are There Any Age Or Weight Restrictions?
Tandem Skydives are the perfect introduction to the sport, and are open to anyone over aged 16 and over. Weight restrictions are ladies 13 stone maximum in relation to height, men 15 stone maximum in relation to height.
